Combining tradition with modernity, the Sirena dress is an example of Matta’s commitment to utilising artisanship in a wearable context. Intentionally oversized, this dress is entirely made by hand by a cooperative of women in the valleys around Oaxaca. One of a kind, it is made of natural cotton panels (tela) joined together with traditional hand crochet in multicoloured thread for a modern twist. We love the woven mixtec geometric motifs on the shoulders.
